50 Som banknote 

The 50 Som banknote of 2023 year is produced on white paper of 126x61 mm. The main color of the banknote is orange. The paper has a local multi-tonal watermark that repeats the portrait depicted on the front side of banknote combined with numbers. The paper also equipped with micro-optic security thread that contains figures of denomination “50” and the diamond-shaped logo of the National Bank.  

The portrait, the inscriptions (“KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЭЛҮҮ CОМ”, “50”, “ТӨРАГА”), the signature of the National Bank’s Chairman and special marks intended for the visually impaired people on the front side of the banknote are printed with raised ink. 

 The distinctive features of 50 Som banknote of 2023 year  

On the front side of banknote, there is a portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka widely known under the name "Alain Tsaritsa” and the inscription “КУРМАНЖАН ДАТКА 1811-1907”. Under the portrait there is an inscription “ЭЛҮҮ CОМ”. Figures of denomination “50” are located in the upper left and lower right corners of the banknote. In the upper right part of the banknote there are inscriptions “KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” and “ТӨРАГА”, as well as the signature of the National Bank`s Chairman. A rhombus depicted in the lower right part of the banknote, tilt the note to see a rainbow image of the graphic symbol of Som – C. The fragments of pattern depicted above the rhombus complete a pattern of diamond when banknote is held up to the light.   

On the reverse of the banknote, there is an image of the Uzgen architectural complex, one of the ancient structures of the Great Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan. The upper left corner of the banknote contains figures of denomination “50”, and inscription “KЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”. The left side of the banknote displays fragments of pattern completed the pattern of diamond against the light, and the year of issue “2023” is specified. In the center of the banknote there is a orange glossy stripe contains figures of denomination “50” and the diamond-shaped logo of the National Bank. In the lower right corner there are figures of denomination “50” and inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ”. The serial numbers of the banknote are located in the upper right and lower corners of the banknote.  

The distinctive features of the 50-Som banknote of 2016 year

On the front side of the note the portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka made by classic engraved method.  

On the back side there is an year of issue “2016” at the bottom of the banknote.   

The 50 Som banknote of 2009 year is made on white paper of 126x61 mm. The main color of the banknote is orange. The colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the local watermark repeating the portrait at the front of the banknote and the electrotyped watermark representing the denomination in figures. The windowed metallic security thread with the microtext “50 SOM” is embedded in the paper. The portrait, the inscriptions “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЭЛҮҮ CОМ”, “100”, the signature of the National bank’s Governor (Tөрага) at the front side of the banknote are made with raised printing. The banknote has original design and improved security features.  

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the signature of the National bank’s Governor (Tөрага), the serial number of the banknote printing in red ink. There is the see-through register formed the name of currency - “сом” on the white coupon field of watermark. There are the portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka widely known under the name "Alain Tsaritsa” and the inscription “КУРМАНЖАН ДАТКА 1811-1907” on the left side of the banknote. The portrait is made with many times repeating inscription “КУРМАНЖАНДАТКА” in microletters visible with magnifying glass. There is a repeating inscription “КЫРГЫЗБАНКЫ” visible with magnifying glass in the lines on the right side of the portrait. There is a tower of the Uzgen architectural complex. There is the inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” under the portrait. The denomination figures “50” are situated at the upper left corner and at the lower right corner of the banknote. There is a yellow rectangle containing the relief image of the national ornament at the lower right part. The figures “50” appears in rectangle covered with ornament while the banknote is tilted. There is the serial number printed in black ink at the lower right corner.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” and the denomination figures “50”. At the centre of the banknote: there is the image of the Uzgen architectural complex, one of the ancient structures of the Great Silk Road in Kyrgyzstan. The main design image consists of stylized microimages of plants. Each architectural construction at the banknotes of new series is situated at the background of the beautiful peaks of Kyrgyzstan. This is signify that the persons situated on the banknotes are reached a summit in the own area – literature, music, cinematograph, painting. There is the iridescent stripe represents as repeating figures “50” and the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” situated in the centre of the banknote. There are the denomination figures “50”, the inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” and the year of issue “2009” at the bottom of the banknote.  

The 50 Som banknote of 2002 year is made on white paper of 150х72 mm. The main color of the banknote is red-violet. The red and light green fibers and also the colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the local watermark repeating the portrait at the front of the banknote and the electrotyped watermark representing the denomination in figures. The windowed metallic security thread with the microtext “50 SOM” is embedded in the paper. The strip code is located at the left and at the right along the edges of the banknote. The portrait, the inscriptions “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЭЛҮҮ CОМ”, “50”, the signature of the of the National bank’s Governor (Tөрага) at the front side of the banknote are made with raised printing.  

At the top of the front side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, the signature of the National Bank’s Governor, two vertical tactile marks for blind people, the denomination figures “50” containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the figures “50” with the raised relief, the serial number of the banknote printing in red ink. There are the image of the denomination figures “50” in blind embossing, the see-through register in the form of the ornament, the portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka widely known under the name “Alain Tsaritsa” and the inscription “КУРМАНЖАН ДАТКА 1811-1907” in the center of the banknote inside the ornament. The tactile mark with the raised relief for the blind people is located on the white coupon field. At the bottom: there are the figures “50” containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the numbers “50”, the inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” underlined by the line “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” in microlettering. The serial number in black color with the figures growing downwards in size, the vertical ornamental strip is located on the right. There is the rectangle containing the relief image of the national ornament at the bottom. Latent image with the figures “50” appears in rectangle while the banknote is tilted.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” and the denomination figures “50”, containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the figures “50”. In the center: there is the image of the Uzgen architectural complex, one of the ancient structures of the Great Silk Road, the see-through register in the form of the ornament. There is the vertical ornamental strip on the left. In the ornament forming the background grid there is the microlettering that indicates the denomination of the banknote (“ЭЛҮҮ СОМ”) and the vertical ornamental strip. There is the iridescent element (made by pearl ink) in the form of the national ornament in the left bottom part of the banknote. There are the denomination figures “50”, the inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” and the year of issue “2002” at the bottom of the banknote.  

The 50 Som banknote of 1994 year is made on white paper of 135х65 mm. The main color of the banknote is red-violet. The banknote has the white fields of 4 mm in width from three sides. The red, green and blue fibers and also the colorless luminescent in UV-light fibers are embedded in the paper. The paper has the local watermark - the portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka. Embedded in the paper the vertical security thread with the microtext “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” can be seen against the light. The portrait, the inscriptions “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”, “ЭЛҮҮ CОМ”, “50”, the signature of the National bank’s Governor (Tөрага) at the front side of the banknote are made with raised printing.

There are the denomination figures “50” in the center of the banknote. The portrait of outstanding statesmen of the Kyrgyz people – Kurmanjan Datka widely known under the name "Alain Tsaritsa and the inscription “КУРМАНЖАН ДАТКА” are situated on the right. At the bottom: there are the figures “50” containing the microlettering as the continuous series of the numbers “50”, the inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” underlined by the line “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” in microlettering and the see-through register in the form of the jug. The vertical ornamental strip is located on the right. There is a pale-green rectangle containing the relief image of the national ornament at the bottom. Latent image with the figures “50” appears in rectangle while the banknote is tilted.  

At the top of the back side of the banknote: there are the serial number printed in red ink, the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ” underlined by the line with the inscription “КЫРГЫЗ БАНКЫ”" in microlettering and the denomination figures “50”. The image of the Uzgen architectural complex of 11-12 centuries and the see-through register are located in the center. The number “50” and the serial number printed in black ink are situated at the bottom of banknote. The inscription “ЭЛҮҮ СОМ” is located at the left on the vertical ornamental strip.
